Thank you for Getting Ahead of the Games

Thank you for helping to make the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games a success.

We know from your feedback, that many spectators, regular transport and road users across the UK, used the travel information and advice we provided.

In London alone, around a third of you changed your regular journeys on public transport to avoid the busiest times and places, mostly by changing the time of travel or the route taken. Motorists avoided driving near the Olympic and Paralympic Route networks with traffic levels in central London reduced by around 15%.

This meant that London's transport networks were able to operate smoothly while carrying record numbers of passengers. During the Olympics over 62 million journeys were made on the Tube - up 35% on normal levels.

Transport for London, the Mayor of London, National Rail, the Department of Transport, Highways Agency and other partners will continue to work together and build on valuable lessons learnt during the Games, including better travel information and advice.
