Things you should know...
- The Olympic Games includes two Road Cycling events for men and women, which take place on roads in Surrey. The men's Cycling Road Race will take place on Saturday 28 July, with the women's held on Sunday 29 July.
- Both events will begin on The Mall, before the riders head south-west through the city. They will then cross the Thames at Putney Bridge and continue out through Richmond Park and past Hampton Court Palace. The Surrey section of the course passes through Walton on Thames, Weybridge and Dorking, then incorporates several circuits of a loop around Box Hill (nine for the men's Road Race, two loops for the women's equivalent), before the riders head north through Leatherhead, Esher, Kingston, Richmond Park and back to The Mall.

Public Transport
- As London 2012 is aiming for all spectators to travel to events by public transport, the transport arrangements will be different when Road Cycling events are taking place.
- For the safety of athletes and spectators, there will be restrictions and closures in the area hours before events begin until a few hours after events finish. This will affect access to rail and Tube stations and bus stops and routes in the area.
- Box Hill & Westhumble, Dorking and Dorking Deepdene rail stations are recommended venue stations for ticketed spectators attending the Cycling Road Races at Box Hill. These stations will be particularly busy two to three hours before events begin and one to two hours after events finish. So, disruptions to transport may occur from early in the morning to late evening.
- Before travelling, make sure you understand all of your options and plan in advance.

Driving and roads

These temporary changes will be in operation hours before events begin until a few hours after events finish. So, disruptions to roads may occur from early in the morning to late evening.
- On Road Cycling event days, driving should be avoided wherever possible. If you have to drive, try to avoid the busiest periods.
- If you have to drive during the Games, make sure you plan ahead and understand the road and parking restrictions in place.
